Maersk Tankers and ShipNet Receive SHIPPINGInsight Award

ShipNet and Maersk receives Digital Innovation Award for Fleet Management Solutions

ShipNet and Maersk Tankers were recently acknowledged for their innovative work within the maritime industry, with the presentation of the 2017 Shipping Insight Technology and Innovation Award.

The award was presented at the 6th annual Shipping Insight Fleet Optimisation Conference and Exhibition in recognition of organisations who successfully implement innovative technology or initiatives based on advanced fleet optimisation.

Suren Thadani, Chief Executive Officer at ShipNet commented, “ShipNet has made significant R&D investments over the last few years to ensure that we continue to deliver cutting edge solutions for our customers in the maritime sector. This award is yet another validation of the successful long term partnership approach with our customers to create technology solutions that are meaningful and significant to the industry.”

The successful collaboration between ShipNet and Maersk Tankers, centers on the creation of a revolutionary mobile user interface, ShipNet Mobility, that connects and operates a host of vessel transactions on the go, anywhere and at any time.  Information is retained, displayed and available at the touch of a button.

Tommy Thomassen, Chief Technical Officer at Maersk Tankers says, “This is part of the digital strategy for Maersk Tankers.  ShipNet Mobility is going to change the way we work onboard with our maintenance jobs and day to day tasks by having access to instant data and the right data and documentation.  Life on board will be much easier, jobs much faster and efficiencies greater.  We continue to move forward with our digital agenda.”

Key operational functions are all interconnected to provide a smarter solution for transactions across procurement, inventory, scheduled maintenance and work orders, which maximise vessel safety and operational efficiency.

“With ShipNet Mobility, updating stock is done more efficiently. Likewise, this mobile solution has made closing a job up to 50% faster,” says Jonas Kofoed, Chief Engineer of the vessel Bro Nibe.

The ships on board crew members are able to use tablets offline, with automatic synchronisation (to the main ShipNet database) activated when the device is returned to its own docking station.  One click technology speeds up the access and processing of data, enhancing the user experience for the crew.

Log in and intuitive screen menus give instant access to work orders, stock records, maintenance schedules and material receiving.  The robust and lightweight design is weather-resistant and an explosion proof version can be used for tank inspections in complete safety.  New inventory figures are automatically compared and updated and stock inventory audits are simple to manage.

ShipNet provides ERP software that delivers an integrated and ‘one system’ solution for added value maritime operations.
