- How do I upgrade to ShipNet 12?
Your account manager can help you start the upgrade process, provide you with a quote for upgrading to ShipNet 12 and schedule time to work with you in making your transition as easy as possible. Please contact them directly for assistance, or use the ShipNet 12 upgrade request form.
- What are the system requirements for
ShipNet 12?
In the main ShipNet 12 does not
require any additional hardware or software beyond that currently needed to run
ShipNet. If you are able to run ShipNet 11.2.2 or later then you will have no
problems running ShipNet 12. Full details of all ShipNet system requirements
are available here.
The one exception to this is that
for Business Intelligence to run you will need to use Microsoft’s SQL server,
regardless of the database the production system runs on.
- Will I have to pay to upgrade to
ShipNet 12?
ShipNet 12 is a chargeable upgrade
for existing clients, reflecting the significant changes made to the
application in this release. The fee for upgrade is equivalent to the fee that
existing clients currently pay for one year’s maintenance of a current ShipNet
application.
- Will I need extra training to use
ShipNet 12?
While ShipNet 12 is designed to put
ease of use at the heart of how the application works, to help you make the
most of some of the new functionality in Voyage Estimator, Task Manager, and
Disbursement Accounting, we will provide both live and recorded training
packages for your users. We will keep you informed regarding the scheduling of
these training sessions.

- Will I still be able to use ShipNet
11?
While we think you will quickly see
the real benefits in moving to ShipNet 12, should you wish to continue using
ShipNet 11 you will still be able to do so. When considering this, do bear in
mind that future functional developments will all be delivered only on the new
ShipNet 12 platform. Over the course of 2012 you will receive critical updates
for ShipNet 11, however, support for ShipNet 11 will be discontinued at some
point in 2013.
- Are all ship types, including Reefers, supported by ShipNet 12?
Yes, all ship types and trades will be supported by ShipNet 12 from the outset. This includes comparisons based on cent value (cents per cubic feet per 30 days) for Reefer operations.
- Is the ShipNet Liner application supported by ShipNet 12?
A version of ShipNet's Liner product is being developed to make the most of the new functionality and user experience offered by ShipNet 12. This will be available in the first half of 2012.
