Meet the Release: SR8 2019

Firstly, ShipNet would like to wish you all a Happy New Year! We hope that 2020 is a prosperous year for all our customers, and we are looking forward to working with you over the coming year.

Our first blog of the year is going to focus on the latest ShipNet release “SR8”, announced towards the end of 2019.

The ShipNetOne XE platform is continually evolving and empowers businesses to drive efficiencies and make data-informed decisions to achieve business growth objectives. We, therefore, want to keep you up-to-date, to ensure that your business stays ahead of the curve with a competitive edge.

So without further ado lets dive right in and see what is new in the latest release, primarily covering our Maritime Chartering, Operations & Accounting Software:

What is new in the ShipNetOne Commercial XE Solution?

Time Charter Gantt Chart:

In this latest release, we are pleased to introduce the new Time Charter Gantt Chart which enables users to view the timeline of the Time Charter Out Hire Statement based on the Hire Interval defined in the Time Charter Out Fixture for the Ship.  

The Gantt Chart facilitates pure Time Charter Out Operators or Vessel Operators who have Time Charter Out contracts to monitor. Operators can follow-up on the status of different Time Charter Out contracts concerning Hire Payments, which will help identify when to create the next hire, understand the current status of the already prepared hire statements, as well as invoices and payments received against each hire payment. 

Claims Manager 

We have introduced a new application that centralizes all commercial related claims. The application manages all claims in one workplace, providing clear visibility to your commercial team on the overall status of each claim.

Negotiation possibilities become enhanced with improved visibility that supports documentation. Events and communications are tracked, stored, and organized in a dedicated and centralized location to help successfully win every negotiation every time.

2020 IMO regulations on Low Sulphur

As of the 1st of January 2020, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has implemented a new regulation for a 0.50% global sulfur cap for marine fuels (Learn More).

Under the new global cap, ships have to use marine fuels with a sulfur content of no more than 0.50%S against the current limit of 3.50%S to reduce the amount of sulfur oxide. The Emission Control Areas (ECAs) remain at the 2015 standard of 0.1%S content.

Given the above regulation and requests from customers, we are now using one common grade (Eg: LSMGO) for all port consumptions irrespective of ECA or Non-ECA.

We have now introduced a new flag named ‘Use in All Ports” for each bunker grade in the Ship Register. When enabled for a given grade, the flag overwrites the primary/secondary functionality and calculates Port Consumption for all the ports irrespective of whether the port is marked as ECA or Non-ECA in the Port Register. This feature has a significant impact on applications such as the Voyage Estimator and Voyage Manager.

ShipConnect Voyage Report:

Enhancements in the Commercial XE solution now provides the ability to generate the ShipConnect Voyage Report URL limitless times from within the Voyage Manager, when a voyage is operational. In turn, this resends the ‘On Creation’ notification mail to the pre-configured recipients. A similar enhancement has been made in the ShipConnect application itself so that ‘On Creation’ mail notifications can be resent from the Voyage Reports page.

What is new in the ShipNetOne Finance XE Solution?

SAF-T (Norway): 

In the latest version of Finance XE, we have included the export of the Analysis type table in the master files and Analysis in General Ledger entries in the SAF-T XML file. This feature means a transaction with dimensions Ship, Voyage, Department, Project, Purpose, Object, and Pool can be sent to the SAF-T XML file.

Users can also choose whether this data shall be written to the file; this is a feature that is controlled by a setting on the selection menu. Furthermore, improvements have been made to increase the performance while generating the SAF-T XML file. The program validates the mandatory fields when generating the SAF-T XML file. Any missing elements will be shown on the validation result log.
